With a 22m circumference, the Kitakanegasawa Gingko Tree in Fukaura is the largest gingko tree, and 3rd largest tree overall in Japan. It was designated a "National Natural Monument" in September 2004. During the event period, it is illuminated at night.

The Kiha 104, a diesel train celebrating its 60th anniversary since it was first made in 1956, is the main draw of this year's event.

Railbuses* were used on the Nanbu Jukan Railway Line (南部縦貫鉄道線) running between Noheji and Shichinohe from 1962-1997. Although the line went out of use in 2002 the railbuses have been preserved and maintained in running condition, and are periodically put on public display.

An event where participants must go to five different establishments and finish a drink there in order to collect stamps. Participants who fill their stamp card within the time limit are eligible to participate in a prize draw. The grand prize is a 2-night & 3-day trip for two to South Korea.

(*The name is a pun. "Hashigozake" is usually written with the kanji for "ladder" + "alcohol" (梯子酒 ) and means to go around to various places drinking (bar hopping). This event name, however,  combines the characters for "run" and "five" reflecting the nature of the event--running around and trying "sake" (alcohol) at five different places.)
