National Kagura Event Hayachine 2016

National Kagura Event Hayachine 2016
全国神楽大会ハヤチネ2016
(Zenkoku Kagura Taikai Hayachine)

Kagura (神楽), literally meaning "for the pleasure of the gods" is a performance of sacred (Shinto) music and dancing. Across Japan there are many different local regional variations, many of which are designated--either on the municipal, prefectural, or national level--as Important Intangible Folk Cultural Properties (重要無形民俗文化財 juuyou mukei minzoku bunkazai).

This event has been organized to celebrate the 40th Anniversary of the designation of Hayachine Kagura (Hanamaki City, Iwate Prefecture) as a National Important Intangible Folk Cultural Property.

Enjoy kagura performances from various prefectures around Japan, as well as a special guest performance of Barong Dance, a type of lion dance from Bali, Indonesia. Local product and food stalls will also be operating at the venue on both days of the event.
